The media has reported that a female with a disability who was being transported by bus from her home to the Moorehaven Training Centre in Co Tipperary was allegedly left on a locked bus all day.

The HSE has assured the Department of Health that it is working with the Moorehaven Training Centre to establish why this incident went unnoticed. The HSE has been in continual contact with the General Manager of the Moorehaven Training Centre in relation to this incident. Work is also underway in reviewing Moorehaven’s Policies, Protocols, and Procedures in regard to clients and service provision to ensure that such an incident never happens again. The HSE will review the service provided by Moorehaven under the Service Level Agreement process. The HSE is also currently reviewing the placement of the service user in question in the Moorehaven Training Centre. Both the HSE and Moorehaven Centre have been in contact with the family of the service user, who have been fully advised of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
