Deputy Jim Daly asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if he will address the prospect of supporting towns who wish to continue with some form of representative group by way of assistance with such elections; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Policy in relation to democratic representation in local government is clearly set out in the Government’s Action Programme for Effective Local Government . I have no proposals in relation to the matter referred to in the question.
