256. Deputy Andrew Doyle asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport in view of the fact that between 19 January 2013 and 5 July 2013, 263,936 plastic card drivers licences have been issued by the Road Safety Authority, if he will provide a breakdown of the total number of persons who have opted in to be an organ donor and those who have not; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The operation of the driver licensing system is a matter for the Road Safety Authority.  I have therefore passed the Deputy's query to the Authority for direct reply.  I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a reply has not been received within ten days.
