186. Deputy Patrick O'Donovan asked the Minister for Justice and Equality his plans to broaden the number of countries with whom Ireland has extradition agreements; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [40260/13]
View answerIn addition to arrangements within the European Union, Ireland currently has bilateral extradition agreements with the United States of America, Australia and Hong Kong. Negotiations on agreements are at varying stages of progress with Argentina, Canada, Chile and Mexico. Ireland and Brazil recently agreed to commence negotiations on an agreement.
I have no plans for further agreements at this time.
