26. Deputy Gerry Adams asked the Minister for Health when the national action plan on rare diseases will be published; if a Health Service Executive clinical director will be appointed to co-ordinate implementation of the plan; if a State registry and rare disease information office will be established; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Work on the drafting of a National Plan is well under way with publication of it earmarked for the end of the year.

As the particular queries raised by the Deputy are service matters, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond directly to the Deputy.
