201. Deputy Stephen S. Donnelly asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the costs involved in opening each of the new 34 driving licence centres; if any American or overseas companies were outsourced to handle data of any kind in the set-up of the new national driver licence service; if so, the steps taken to ensure confidential information was protected; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The subject matter of this question, namely the operation of the National Driver Licensing Service, is the statutory responsibility of the Road Safety Authority.  Accordingly, I have forwarded the Deputy's query to the Authority for direct reply.  I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response has not been received within ten days.
