My Department has been advised by the Department of Social Protection that the person named was awarded a State Pension Transition backdated to 22 December, 2012. State Pension Transition is deductable from Early Retirement Scheme payments from age 65. Where an applicant qualifies for the Early Retirement Scheme under joint management the pension shall be reduced by the amount of any national retirement pension paid to the participant and their spouse/partner in the joint management arrangement. As a result, an overpayment has occurred in respect of the ERS pension of the above named and a letter issued to them on 1 May, 2013 to this effect.
