44. Deputy Finian McGrath asked the Minister for Finance his views on correspondence (details supplied) regarding gift tax. [53252/13]
View answerI am advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the material supplied by the Deputy does not contain all of the details required in order to provide a reply to the queries raised. At the very least, it would be necessary to examine the terms of the person's mother's will as well as the terms of the Agreement in relation to the sale of the house and the giving of a 1/5th share in the house in return for not contesting the will. Should the person concerned wish to discuss the matters with a Revenue official, she may contact Ms. Sheila O'Brien, Dublin Capital Acquisitions Tax, Aras Brugha, 9 – 15 O'Connell St., Dublin 1, telephone 01 – 8655719 who will assist her in this matter.
