282. Deputy Lucinda Creighton asked the Minister for Defence the total number of Irish quasi-autonomous NGOs that his Department either created or falls under his Department’s responsibility and was in existence when he became Minister and continues to exist to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Since I took office in March 2011, two agencies under the aegis of my Department have ceased to exist – the Civil Defence Board and Coiste an Asgard. The only body remaining under the aegis of my Department is the Army Pensions Board, which is an independent statutory body established under the Army Pensions Act, 1927.
