Government support for the horse and greyhound racing industries is provided under the Horse and Greyhound Racing Fund which was established under Section 12 of the Horse and Greyhound Racing Act, 2001. In accordance with the provisions of the Act monies from the Fund are distributed 80% to Horse Racing Ireland and 20% to Bord na gCon.

My Department does not provide funding to the Irish Responsible Gambling Board. Horse Racing Ireland and Bord na gCon are commercial state bodies and decisions relating to day to day expenditure in such bodies are a matter for the relevant CEOs and their boards, subject to compatibility with their statutory functions.
