The Office of Public Works last week commenced repair works on two flood defence breaches at Ardcanaught and Garrane East on the Maine embankments in Co. Kerry following the tidal storm surge of 3 January. The OPW has statutory responsibility for these embankments. Further repair works at other affected locations will be undertaken through the course of the coming year, as resources permit.

A table showing the remedial works and inspections/reports carried out by OPW in respect of its own schemes since the January 2014 storms is now available on the OPW website at: http://www.opw.ie/floodriskmanagement/floodriskmanagementoperations under Further Information.
