Deputy Jim Daly asked the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs the number of cases referred to the Ombudsman for Children for each of the past five years relating to complaints against school management; the number of these cases that were investigated by the Ombudsman for Children; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Ombudsman for Children is independent in her function and reports to the Oireachtas on matters within her remit as required by the Ombudsman for Children Act 2002. I have sent the question to the Ombudsman for Children and asked that she might correspond directly with the Deputy in this matter.
