Questions (1244)

Jerry Buttimer

Question:

1244. Deputy Jerry Buttimer asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport in view of the long delays in receiving appointments with the national driver licence service and the imperative of obtaining a replacement licence at short notice when a licence is damaged, if there are any plans in place to allow for a drop-in service in addition to the appointment system already operating; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The operation of the National Driver Licensing Service is the statutory responsibility of the Road Safety Authority.  I have therefore referred the question to the Authority for direct reply.  I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response has not been received within ten days.
