The Building Control Act 2007, provided , inter alia, for the protection of the use of certain professional titles, including the title of Architect, in order to protect consumers from unregistered persons passing themselves off as construction professionals. The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) is the designated registration body for the purposes of Part 3 of the Act. I have no direct role in relation to the day to day administration of the register of architects. Section 73 of the Act requires the registration body as soon as may be after the end of each year to prepare and publish a report of its proceedings under the Act during that year.
