Deputy Michelle Mulherin asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to detail when the balance of the €6.5 million, announced when applications for the national cycle network were sought, will be allocated given that the actual projects recently announced only amount to €4.3 million in total; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerThe Deputy may now be aware, subsequent to my announcement yesterday, that a further €2m has been awarded to Galway County Council for the development of a greenway from Galway City to Moycullen. This is in addition to over €4.3 million already awarded to Kerry and Waterford County Councils under the National Cycle Network Funding Programme 2014 to 2016.
This latest announcement brings the process to a conclusion with a total allocation of more than €6.35 million being provided to greenway projects under this phase of the Programme. Details of the successful proposals are available at www.smartertravel.ie.
