96. Deputy Michael Creed asked the Minister for Social Protection if a decision has been made on an invalidity pension appeal in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [27463/14]
View answerI am advised by the Social Welfare Appeals Office that an Appeals Officer, having fully considered all of the available evidence, decided to disallow the appeal of the person concerned by way of a summary decision. Notification of the Appeals Officer’s decision issued to the person concerned on 16 June 2013. However, in light of the Deputy’s request for an oral hearing of this case the file has been recalled from the Department and will be referred back to the Appeals Officer for consideration of this request. The Social Welfare Appeals Office functions independently of the Minister for Social Protection and of the Department and is responsible for determining appeals against decisions in relation to social welfare entitlements.
