571. Deputy Dara Murphy asked the Minister for Defence if it is possible for a serving member of the Naval Services to transfer to the Army; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29211/14]
View answerI am advised by the Military authorities that personnel from the Naval Service are no different to any other Service or Formation within the Defence Forces in that they may apply for transfers within the organisation. All transfer requests are considered on an individual basis by the Unit Commander and the Formation Commander of the applicant in light of personnel strengths and exigencies of the service, in addition to the personal circumstances of individual applications.
