It is a legal requirement of all educational providers that they ensure there is equality of opportunity for all learners in accordance with relevant legislation. The Equal Status Acts 2000-2008 require educational institutions/service providers, including private providers, to do all that is reasonable to accommodate the needs of a person with a disability. All providers, public and private, of Springboard courses have been reminded of their obligations to ensure that appropriate facilities are in place to support the participation of people with disabilities. 17 private or not for profit providers of higher education will receive funding under Springboard 2014.
The Department does not have information on disability support services within private sector institutions.
