I am to inform the Deputy that the Irish Prison Service advertised an internal promotional competition for the post referred to by the Deputy in May 2013. Eleven of the applicants submitted complaints to the Commission for Public Service Appointments alleging beaches of their code of practice.

The Commission for Public Service Appointments conducted an investigation and a report of their findings was received by the Director General of the Irish Prison Service on 10 July 2014. The findings and recommendations are being considered by the Irish Prison Service and a response will be issued to the Commission shortly, as requested.
