Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection if she will provide in tabular form, the number of individuals resident in the State and in receipt of US social security pensions for each of the years, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, based on information requested from or provided by the US social security system. Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection if she will provide in tabular form, the number of individuals resident in the State and in receipt of state social security pensions from other EU members, Australia and Canada for 2011, 2012 and 2013 based on information, provided by or requested from the social security authorities of those other states. I propose to take Questions Nos. 139 and 140 together.

The information requested by the Deputy is not available to my Department. Details of an individual’s income and assets (including any state pensions they may receive from other countries) are only required by my Department where that person makes an application for a social assistance scheme for which a means test must be satisfied.
