1738. Deputy Thomas P. Broughan asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the total number of new appointments made in his Department and those bodies under his remit since March 2011 to date in 2014, with a breakdown of the grade to which they were appointed during the period. There were a total of 41 new appointments made in my Department in the period March 2011 to date in 2014. Of these 23 were ministerial appointments resulting from changes in Ministers responsibilities.  A further 14 appointments were into safety critical posts in the Irish Coast Guard and the Air Accident Investigation Unit.  The breakdown of the grade is set out in Table 1.
