350. Deputy Michael McGrath asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the provisions of the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest legislation that are due to expire at the end of 2014; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [33321/14]
View answerUnder section 12 of the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Act 2013, I am required as Minister to review the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Acts 2009-2013 annually and cause a written report of my findings to be laid before each House of the Oireachtas. As part of that review I am required to consider whether the various measures provided for under the legislation continue to be necessary, having regard to the purposes of the legislation. My last such report was laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas in June 2014. In that report I concluded that the measures continued to be necessary and will continue to apply. Accordingly, there are no provisions within the legislation that are due to expire at the end of 2014.
