Deputy Dominic Hannigan asked the Taoiseach to set out the number of employees on the minimum wage; the number of employees on the minimum wage who are male and the number who are female; the number of employees on the minimum wage who are under 25 years of age and the number over 25 years of age. The Earnings, Hours and Employment Costs Survey (EHECS) collects quarterly information from enterprises with 3 or more employees. While gender and age are not collected and are therefore not available, there were an estimated 68,100 employees earning the minimum wage of €8.65 or below in Q1 2014.
