63. Deputy Sean Fleming asked the Taoiseach to detail the number of public sector employees under his remit who are subject to a freeze on their increment payment in 2014; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [35800/14]
View answerThe Haddington Road Agreement provides for a range of increment and related balancing measures depending on relevant earnings. Under the terms of the Agreement, those earning under €35,000 will have a three month increment pause during the lifetime of the Agreement. For those on salaries between €35,000 and €65,000, two three month increment pauses will apply (a total of a six month pause), and for those earning above €65,000 to the maximum of the Principal (Higher) scale or equivalent, two six month pauses will apply over the course of the Agreement. Finally, incremental progression is suspended for three years for those on salary scales starting over €100,000. Based on the best available data available, the number of civil servants in my Department who will have an increment paused or frozen in 2014 is 23.
