The Standards in Public Offices Commission is an independent body established in December 2001 by the Standards in Public Office Act, 2001. It has a supervisory role under the Ethics in Public Office Acts 1995 and 2001; the Electoral Act 1997, as amended; the Oireachtas (Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices) (Amendment) Act 2001; the Electoral (Amendment) (Political Funding) Act 2012; and the Oireachtas (Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices)(Amendment) Act 2001. Further information is available on the Commission's website at http://www.sipo.gov.ie. It is proposed that the Commission will also have a supervisory role under the forthcoming Registration of Lobbying Act.
