Deputy Mick Wallace asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to outline the amount of public money granted annually to the ISPCA for the running of dog pounds; if he will indicate the regularity with which these dog pounds are inspected and by whom; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department does not provide any funding to the ISPCA for the running of dog pounds. It is a matter for each local authority to manage the dog control service in its functional area and my Department has no involvement in this process.
