Deputy Gerry Adams asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the case of a person (details supplied) in County Louth, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2014 and applied for a medical card in advance of chemotherapy which began on 4 August 2014; if his attention has been further drawn to the fact that representation was made to the primary care reimbursement service on behalf of this person, regarding the provision of an emergency medical card in the absence of a decision on their discretionary medical card; if he will examine this application both for emergency and discretionary medical card; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
