Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Health the reason there is no ministerial policy to ensure that patients in receipt of home dialysis are to be supported by the Health Service Executive for the extra electricity cost involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I understand that tax relief is available in respect of certain medical expenses. In the case of home dialysis, this can include electricity expenses, telephone expenses, laundry and certain travel allowances.
