229. Deputy Seamus Kirk asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine in view of the recent Supreme Court decision on the appeal by a number of farmers in the Cooley Peninsula, County Louth, regarding the level of compensation paid for de-stocking during the foot and mouth outbreak, if compensation paid to other farmers will now be reviewed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The position is that the Supreme Court has referred the matter back to the High Court and I am awaiting the outcome of the hearing in that forum.
