269. Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if she will investigate the incident on 16 November 2014 outside the Mansion House, Dublin where a woman was very forcibly pushed to the ground by members of An Garda Síochána; the actions she will take; and if she will make a statement on the matter. There are well established procedures where anyone can complain against the behaviour of an individual member of An Garda Síochána through the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC). Any evidence to support these claims should also be brought to the attention of GSOC.

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) is an independent body which was set up to receive complaints made by members of the public concerning allegations of misconduct by members of the Garda Síochána.

As the Ombudsman Commission is statutorily independent in its examination of complaints I have no role in its conduct of investigations.
