Deputy Willie Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Skills the reason this Deputy's correspondence (details supplied) has not been replied to, notwithstanding its having been furnished to Bus Éireann school transport services on 8 September 2014; if steps will be taken to ensure that an appropriate reply is furnished; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Minister of State at the Department of Education and Skills

Bus Éireann, which operates the school transport scheme on behalf of my Department, is responsible for the negotiation and awarding of school transport contracts to private operators and has advised that the correspondence in question was overlooked in error by the local office in question. Bus Éireann has advised that a response will issue within the next week.
