Insurance cover for sporting organisations is an operational matter for the relevant National Governing Bodies of Sport, which are independent, autonomous bodies.  My Department has no role in insurance cover for sporting organisations.

The National Governing Body for swimming is Swim Ireland. I have referred the Deputy's question to the Irish Sports Council and have asked the Council to clarify the position with Swim Ireland in respect of the organisation mentioned by the Deputy.  I have asked the Council to reply directly to the Deputy. I would ask the Deputy to inform my office if a reply is not received within ten days.
