329. Deputy Billy Kelleher asked the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs if he will provide, in tabular form by county, the funding his Department has provided for city or county child care committees every year since 2011. [49097/14]
View answerThe City and County Childcare Committees (CCCs) were established in 2001 to advance the provision of childcare facilities in their local areas.
The funding provided by this Department to each CCC for the years 2011 to 2014 is shown in the table. It should be noted that in 2012 my Department reviewed the funning provided to each City and County Childcare Committee relative to the numbers of children and services within the area and the level of deprivation. Following that exercise, it was found that some committees were relatively over funded and others relatively underfunded. A new Framework for allocations to CCCs was developed and is now being implemented. For the period 2013 and 2014, therefore, the allocations were adjusted so that relatively overfunded committees had a greater reduction in funding than those that are relatively underfunded.
