559. Deputy Barry Cowen asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the total legal costs incurred by his Department in 2011, 2012, 2013 and estimated in 2014. [49339/14]
View answerThe following table details legal costs incurred by my Department since 2011 based on information contained in the annual Appropriation Accounts prepared by my Department and submitted to the Comptroller and Auditor General; the table does not include costs associated with the Planning Tribunal.

Legal costs are difficult to estimate with accuracy; however, a specific provision of €395,000 in respect of such costs in respect of my Department was made in the Revised Estimates for Public Services 2014, published by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform. To date, some €192,000 of this provision has been, or is in the process of being, paid by my Department.
