Deputy Dara Calleary asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the position regarding negotiations with the European Commission in relation to Ireland's regional airport policy; the number of meetings or interactions there has been around the issue; when he expects the process to conclude; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerAs the Deputy is aware, the draft Regional Airports Programme 2015-2019 is currently with the EU Commission for consideration and approval. My Department is engaged with the Commission in its examination and there have been a total of eleven interactions with respect to the draft Programme to date. While I am hopeful the clarification process will be concluded by February, the approval of the Programme is a matter for the EU Commission.
