Deputy Michael McCarthy asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the work being done to deal with voids in local authority housing stocks in County Cork; if funding will be made available to refurbish and maintain the many voids that have been boarded up; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As part of a planned programme of addressing vacant properties supported by my Department in 2014, there were 2,333 units returned to productive use nationally at a cost of €26.1 million. 155 of those units were in County Cork. The programme will be continuing into 2015, through funding made available under Budget 2015.
