The Appropriate Assessment in respect of the area referred to by the Deputy has assessed the potential ecological impacts of aquaculture and fisheries activities within the Galway Bay Complex Special Area of Conservation (SAC) on the Conservation Objectives of the site. The Appropriate Assessment has also assessed the potential impacts of these activities on the Special Conservation Interests in the inner Galway Bay Special Protection Area (SPA). The Appropriate Assessments are carried out by the Marine Institute on behalf of my Department.

The Appropriate Assessment in respect of Galway Bay is available for viewing by any member of the public on my Department’s website at www.agriculture.gov.ie.
