This query relates to recognition as a teacher. The Teaching Council, under the Teaching Council Act 2001, is the regulator and professional standards body for the teaching profession. It sets the conditions for admission to the register of teachers, including in relation to qualifications requirements. It is also a function of the Council to consider applications for registration as a teacher, including applications on the basis of qualifications awarded in another EU State. As this is an operational matter for the Teaching Council I am referring the correspondence to the Council for attention as appropriate.
