Questions (182)

Clare Daly

Question:

182. Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Health if he will explain the high level of use, across the public health and disability services, of early career psychologists, and the fact that such posts have no official pay grade or structure; his views that this is systemic exploitation; his plans to address this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There are a range of psychologist grades within the health service. The different grades are set out in the current consolidated health sector pay scales (1 November 2013) and these cover the full breadth of the psychology grade from Trainee Clinical Psychologist to Director of Psychology and the pay rates for these grades.

With regard to the operational aspects of the question, I have asked the HSE to respond to the Deputy directly on the matter. If you have not received a reply from the HSE within 15 working days please contact my Private Office and they will follow up the matter with them.
