700. Deputy Michael McCarthy asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the initiatives that have been supported and pursued to develop the sport of basketball in the past five years, both locally and nationally; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15727/15]
View answerThe Irish Sports Council, which is funded by my Department, is the statutory body with responsibility for the promotion, development and co-ordination of sport, including the allocation of funding for the National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGBs), including Basketball Ireland. As this question is a matter for the Irish Sports Council, I have referred it to the Council for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to inform my office if a reply is not received within ten days.
