Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection the number of recipients of Deserted Wives Benefit eligible for receipt of payment in the past five years, to date; the extent to which their entitlement has changed in the period in question; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Deserted Wife's Benefit scheme has been closed since 1997. The number of recipients eligible for receipt of payment in the past five years is set out in the table. There has been no change in the eligibility criteria for the scheme in that time.
