Deputy Michael McGrath asked the Minister for Finance the amount in legal costs that Allied Irish Banks spent in 2013 and in 2014, in pursuing persons who had defaulted on their house loans; the top five highest amounts paid out to legal firms for that work in 2014 only; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have been informed by AIB that for commercial confidentiality reasons the bank does not publicly disclose the details of contracts with individual external service providers. The bank manages legal fees within its commercial business requirements and operating costs.
