101. Deputy Brendan Smith asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the opening date for the 2nd tranche of applications under the green low-carbon agri-environmental scheme; the closing date for receipt of same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19055/15]
View answerI am pleased to say that a second tranche for the submission of GLAS applications will open in the autumn. As I have also extended the closing date for the completion of Commonage Management Plans under Tranche 1 to end-August, the opening of the second tranche will most likely be after that date. Farmers intending to apply under the second tranche should bear this in mind when declaring land parcels in their 2015 Basic Payment Scheme application, so as to place themselves in the best possible position to maximise their options under GLAS.
