Deputy Michael Moynihan asked the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources further to Parliamentary Question No. 447 of 28 April 2015, if funding has been allocated to any sector of the eel fishing community under any European Union directive; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As outlined in my response to Question No. 447 on 28 April last, no funding was provided by the European Union, in the context of EU regulation 1100/2007, for the provision of a hardship scheme and no property right attaches to public eel licences.

The position has not changed.
