Deputy Jonathan O'Brien asked the Minister for Education and Skills if she is aware of recent announcements by third level institutions that they will increase the cost of on-campus accommodation; the date on which she will receive the report from the Higher Education Authority on student accommodation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. View answerI am aware that a number of universities have announced increases to the price of campus accommodation for the next academic year. I appreciate the concerns regarding the availability of accommodation for students and for that reason I have asked the HEA to report on this issue. Data gathered for the report is currently being validated by the HEA in consultation with my Department and other stakeholders. I expect the report to be finalised in the coming weeks.
