I am advised by the Irish Prison Service that it conducts an analysis of the snapshot of the prison population on the last day of each month. Accordingly, an analysis of the snapshot of the prison population conducted on the 30th April, 2015 shows there was a total of 403 persons serving a sentence of less than 12 months, of this 52 persons were aged 18 to 20 years and 115 were aged 21 to 25 years.
