I am advised by the Irish Prison Service that it conducts an analysis of the snapshot of the prison population on the last day of each month. Accordingly, an analysis of the snapshot of the prison population conducted on the 30th April, 2015 shows there was a total of 1,220 persons serving a sentence of less than three years, of this 125 persons were aged 18 to 20 years and 303 were aged 21 to 25 years.
