The Health Service Executive has been asked to examine this matter and to reply to the Deputy as soon as possible. The Health Service Executive operates the General Medical Services scheme, which includes medical cards and GP visit cards, under the Health Act 1970, as amended. It has established a dedicated contact service for members of the Oireachtas specifically for queries relating to medical cards and GP visit cards, which the Deputy may wish to use for an earlier response. Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Minister for Health if he will address the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 who was supposed to have a computed tomography, CT, scan recently and every eight weeks, but who has been informed that it may be October 2015 by the time such a scan will be carried out; if he will report on the adequacy of the CT scan service in the Mater Hospital in Dublin 7; the average waiting times; and the steps he is taking to ensure an acceptable level of service for cancer and other seriously ill patients.
