167. Deputy Barry Cowen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection if she will provide an update on the case of a person (details supplied) in County Laois; and when the person may expect a decision on a disability allowance application. [28263/15]
View answerThe application for disability allowance (DA) from the person concerned, based upon the evidence submitted, was refused on medical grounds and the person concerned was notified in writing of this decision on 5 June 2015.
Further evidence was received on 29 June 2015 and this is currently being reviewed by a deciding officer. The person in question can expect a decision on the review of her DA application shortly. If the decision to refuse the allowance is confirmed following review, the person concerned will have the right to appeal to the Social Welfare Appeals Office.
