771. Deputy Terence Flanagan asked the Minister for Education and Skills the position regarding student councils (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [28538/15]
View answerThe existing provisions of Section 27 of the Education Act 1998 give broad scope for the formation of student councils in all secondary schools and their active participation in school management in conjunction with the Board of Management, parents and teachers. There are no plans to change this position. The proposed Parent and Student Charter engagements will provide an opportunity to further clarify the role of student councils.
